This paper first interprets the connotation, characteristics, and the social functions of educational fairness, then probes into and analyzes the Chinese traditional educational fairness. On that basis, the author presents an objective, and scientific theoretical analysis of the current situation of Chinese educational fairness, thus to reveal its specialty and the concept that "fundamental fairness" which focuses on "fairness of chances". In doing so, the author adopting the ethical measures of morality, attempts to construct a feasible mechanism of educational fairness to meet the demands of modern society and individual's development.This paper focuses on "the ethical study of educational fairness" and consists of four parts.Part 1 is the starting point of the study, in which the author interprets the basic theories such as fairness, the connotation, characteristics and the ethical connotation of educational fairness, preparing itself for the following discussion in terms of theoretical foundation and transition.In the beginning, the paper analyzes the connotation of educational fairness from the perspective of educational sociology, educational law science, economics of education, and educational ethics. Based on the fact that fairness is the reflection, measure, and evaluation of interpersonal interests and after the comprehensive theoretical analysis of other connotation of educational fairness, then the definition of educational fairness is defined in the paper as " a state of educational development, in which, a certain society entitles all its members to choose and share, freely and equally, the local public educational resources of all levels at the time." In another words, it is the fairness in distributing educational interests. Distribution of educational interests is not reflected through money, material, power, or status, but mostly through the distribution of individual's mental and physical developing rights, developing opportunities, and developingconditions, and through the recognition of their developing level and qualifications. So phrasal developing is typical of the special educational interests, and which is distributed unbalanced in the starting point, the course, and the result.The basic ethical characteristic of educational fairness ultimately reflect the human nature, and advocate the educational idea that people are to be considered first, hence establishing the ethical foundation of human society and promoting the balanced distribution of social interests. To the disadvantaged groups in society, educational fairness is undoubtedly the only hope of changing their lives. And the lower their social statuses are, the more outstanding their ethical demands for educational fairness are.To the theoretical research of western scholars, domestic scholars have done considerable study, and thus it is not to be covered here. However, the research into Chinese traditional educational fairness remains to be deepened. Actually, in their educational practice, the ancient Chinese great thinkers put forward educational thoughts and behavior of great moral value, and formed a lot of unique characteristics and fine traditions, thus constructing the solid foundation of educational ethical development in China. Many universal educational ethics have already become the valuable cultural treasures of our country, among which there are countless examples reflecting the exploration and pursuit of our ancestors toward educational ethics. For instance, there Confucius' "teaching students in accordance with their aptitude" and "teaching without considering their origins", Mozi's "measuring one's own ability before learning", and Mencius' "teaching with various strategies". In Learning, there are remarks like "teaching benefits teachers as well as students" and "promoting kindness and making up the defects". Besides, there are innovations of systems such as "selecting talents by impartial examinations" and "academy system" etc. All of the above are all the models of Chinese traditional educational fairnes...
