The model example is a kind of traditional but important education method, which is realistic and direct-viewing with the education significance and formidable persuasive power. What is more, it is the direct power for driving and urging on people diligently enterprising. To cultivate the talented persons who the ages needed, all previous dynasties made use of model examples to strengthen the effects of model example in schools. In the new historical period, in order to bring up the fresh troops who can carry out the socialist construction and reform, the three generations of leaders of the communist party of China have paid more attention on the effects of model example method in middle schools. Thus, the method of model example has achieved great success with the good care of the nation, the society and the school. But in the changing period of reforming and opening, middle school students have been changing their ideas, diathesis, modes of thinking and values quietly because of the spread of the money consciousness and the individualism, the permeating and affecting of foreign cultures and a variety of economic forms. The problem is that our educators have neglected not only these varieties when carrying out moral education by model example but also the modern character, principal and request of the method in operation. What is more, they are still adopting single and fixed mode and have set up the "high, big and empty" model image which lacks the sense of the ages, the reason is that they have deserted the guide of relevant theories of model mode. Nowadays, middle school students often shrink back at the sight of these facts. The result is, on the one hand, traditional heroes are gradually disappearing in the ideology of middle school students so that the models' glory is no longer dazzling and the example demonstration effect is weakening, on the other hand, the bodies and minds of middle school students are being exhausted under the burden of exam -education, therefore, a certain character ofthe star idol" results in sympathetic chord in their minds, and then becomes a tool of alleviating their heart pressure, that is to say, they regard it as" the decompression valve" in their spirit homes. This thesis studied the reasons of the achievements and the problems of using this kind of method currently on the historical basis of effects of the model example mode in schools of different ages and in the light of the subject theories, the dialectical principle of the individual and the common, and Bandera's theory of the social study. In conclusion, the paper proposed some requirements, according to the principles and requirements in carrying out the model example mode and combining its modern characters, that is to set the example companied with the ages and put the model example mode of moral education into practice, All of above aims are to get back the endless power of the model again.
