A new era is coming to us when we enter into 21st century. This is a era which places great importance on knowledge and talents with characteristics of the sharp increase of knowledge and the world new technological revolution tide. Chairman Jiang has pointed out seriously in the third national education conference that our all levels of each kind of educational institution, all of our educators are undertaking the dignified responsibility to strengthen the comprehensive national strength including the national cohesion. Obviously the comprehensive national strength has a great deal to do with our education. The school is the garden of bringing up talents and the teacher is the developer of the human resources. In other words, it is important to improve the teachers' quality in order to improve the comprehensive national strength and train high-qualified talents. A trend in the international society to improve the teacher's quality is to adopt the measure of the teacher's specification. Apart from the training by the colleges and universities and the further education provided to the on-the-job teacher, the most important part lies in the teacher's hard work. This paper takes the example of Chinese teacher for illustration and elaborate the ability composition of the teacher under the background of teacher's specification and the self-train of the teachers.The thesis consists of three parts. The first part introduces the background of the teachers' specialization and briefly explains "specialty, teachers' specialization and Chinese teachers' specialization". The professional development of Chinese teachers will absolutely promote the improvement of their teaching competence, which shows us the reason why the author writes this thesis. The second part first elaborately discusses what abilities a Chinese teacher should acquire under the background of specialization. Although the abilities might be various and trivial, we can divide them into four areas— speaking, writing, thinking and doing. Second, itillustrates the branch abilities. This part mainly tells us what the thesis discusses about.The third part expounds through what way a Chinese teacher can acquire those abilities mentioned above, which is the solution of the questions put forward. Actually, lots of Chinese teachers in the front line of education are urgently required to improve their own abilities, most of them have been exploring and practising approaches and measures to train and improve their abilities.In 1985, the Chinese Prospect Press published a book named "Write for the Students—an anthology of Teachers' compositions", which vividly demonstrates that a Chinese teacher can use his own writing experience to instruct students to practice writing on the one hand;on the other he can also improve his own writing skill, strengthen his passion and performance in composition teaching. Since 1990s, lots of primary and secondary schools hold movements like "Three Kinds of Handwriting & drawing", the training of comprehensive abilities, and the training of using computer and network, which all contribute a lot to the development of teachers' ability. We believe that in the near future, Chinese teachers will show us a new look under the right guide of Chinese education experts, the support of the government's policy and the cooperation of the teachers in the front line.
