Study On Organization Structure Of Universities Research Management Adapting To Innovation

The 21st century is an age of knowledge economy. Innovation is an essential character of knowledge economy. In this age, the ability and efficiency of knowledge creation and knowledge application will be an important factor, which effects country comprehensive national strength and country competitive competence. As base of scientific research in the knowledge economy age, universities are playing the pivotal role that cannot be substituted. In the national innovation system, the universities scientific research is the knowledge innovation position and has superiority which other research and development organizations is unable to compare. Universities'scientific research must have the continuous innovating ability. However, the traditional straight-line functional organization structure of management isn't suitable for the time request. Furthermore, the tendency of overlapping fusion of discipline is unceasingly strengthened. Universities have to the traditional organization structure of scientific research management had to carry on the transformation, thus promoting the development of scientific research innovation.The paper first comments on research foundation about and organization structure form. It introduces organization structure theory in five big categories, Including classical organization structure theory, behavioral science organization structure theory, contingency system organization structure theory, environment decision organization structure theory and economic organization structure theory. The organization structure theory is related straight-line functional system, the matrix system, and the virtual organization. Then it has analyzed the functions of universities'scientific research and factors that affect the organization structure of universities'scientific research management. By analyzing present situation of the organization structure of scientific research management in universities'and trying to achieve the target for promoting universities scientific research innovation ability, the paper proposes the matrix system organization structure is practical choice for the universities scientific research management, and it is a tendency that virtual organization is suitable for the innovation request in the future.
