A Chinese textbook often consists of four parts, including text system, knowledge system, exercise system, and help-reading system. Exercise system is one important part of Chinese textbooks. This is the conclusion that is learned from the long-term compilation experience of the Chinese and foreign textbook compilers. Arranging some exercises in Chinese textbooks will be helpful to students that memory, understand and apply elementary knowledge and basic skill. This is one of the important differences between the textbook and the ordinary write. In the history of the textbook, those that lack exercise systems are regarded as incomplete textbooks with structure. Therefore, the modern textbook compilers all extremely value the design of exercises. Scientific, reasonable, sequential exercise system will be fully and effectively to display the teaching function of the textbook. This paper discusses from four aspects .Combining the ability training, the practice structure, the practice lead language and the practice graph with 《Chinese》 published by People's Education Press to make the case analysis. The author puts forward some tentative ideas, hoping to give some reference to the reform and practice of the Chinese textbook in elementary school. This paper consists of six chapters. The first one elaborates the research object and the scope, the question proposed and the literature review, the research goal and the significance, the research technique, the paper characteristic and the innovation. The second one elaborates the theoretical basis of the design of exercise system. First, the exercise system must be designed in terms of quality and quantity around the curriculum standard in the total goal and the stage teaching goal. Then, the author combines the Bloom's Taxonomy of Educational Objectives for the Cognitive Domain, the Vygotsky's "zone of proximal development" theory, the constructivism with the Chinese knowledge, the skill and the strategy. Finally, the tentative theory is provided. The third and the fourth chapter mainly analyses the practice behind the text and the unit practice. The fifth one main outlines the design characteristic of exercise system in foreign language textbooks. In the comparative analysis, the last one proposes some conception for our country elementary school, hoping to give some valuable reference to the reform and practice of Chinese textbooks.
