When faced with the globalization and multi-polarization, the teaching of our mother tongue has encountered great challenge. Chinese teaching has been regarded as the embarrassment in the end of the twentieth century. When looking back, we find that Chinese literature reading teaching has always been involved in contradictions, i.e. the contradiction between the importance and ineffectiveness of the Chinese literature reading teaching. There are many causes, including the textbook, the inefficiency of studying. Nevertheless, the main cause is deeply rooted in the unawareness of the nature of modern literature reading teaching and by the influence of the theory that read ing is only a tool that the way of reading teaching has been stereotyped.Based on the characteristics of Chinese subject itself, this thesis tries to lay emphasis on the theory of the research on effective teaching. Meanwhile, on the foundation of the integration of Chinese teaching and effective teaching, the theory and the way of effective reading have been set forth in the process of teaching practice. The whole thesis covers four parts. Part One analyses the current situation and brings up the problems existing in the Chinese in-class teaching. It also analyses the nature of these problems, so that the theory of effective teaching could be put forward. Part Two illustrates the ways of effective teaching in theory, which set out from the concepts of it, rearranges them and raises a proper and scientific definition of it. Integrated with the characteristics of Chinese subject, this part attempts to discover the primary features in the effective reading teaching, as well as the factors affecting the efficiency of Chinese literature reading teaching in senior high school. Part Three goes back to the practice of teaching from the theory proper and tries to construct the way of effective reading teaching, which involves the formation of the effective reading teaching, the cultivation of personalized understanding of the reading materials, the process of conversation in teaching and the construction of diversified evaluation systems. Part Four begins with teaching practice and sums up several ways of effective reading teaching. Besides, it also attempts to explore their importance on the cultivation of students' Chinese accomplishment.
