With the promulgation of the art of the new curriculum, the steady development of the new curriculum reform, and with the people's acceptance of the new curriculum concept and people's increased awareness of education, the art education at primary and secondary level has come to be emphasized. Although constructive progress of coutryside art education has been made to some extent, the art teaching in the countryside just gets started in terms of its theory and practice owing to the constraints of economy, concept, and faculty.As a consequence, the study is oriented towards the art teaching situation in the City of Chenzhou. The author has selected the representative middle school as his object, focusing on such issues as the situation, reform and development in the art teaching in the countryside's compulsary education phase under the frame of the new curriculum. Beside these, in combination with the relevant principle, a great many issues identified in the course of art teaching in the countryside have been profoundly explored and ananlysed, and thus some concrete thoughts and specific ideas in that regard have been put forward, which is aimed at promoting the implementation of art teaching in the countryside in accordance with the new curriculum. with the purpose of coming up with some ideas on the art education, fostering the innovation of art teaching methods, enhancing the efficiency of art teaching and the development of countryside education.The article is made up of three parts: the art teaching circumstance in the countryside middle school in Chenzhou City; some leading problems and the corresponding ananlyses in the field of art teaching; Recommendations on the art teaching in the countrysideThe key points in this article are unfolded as follows: There existed a couple of obstacles in the art teaching in Chenzhou countryside from the teaching atmosphere and the teaching contents that fail to keep pace with the reform of the new curriculum, for which the function of the art teaching couldn't be brought to full play. Based upon such impressing conditon, tremendous efforts must be taken to find the ways on how to solve the problems among the art teaching and its reform and new growth, in consideration with the countryside area feature as well as its unique resource advantages and the basic concept of the new curriculum. And there stand a grand oppportunity of the mergering and adjustment among the schools at the village and township level. Great importance should be attached to the development of some leading middle schools accordingly. The teamwork spirits amongst the teachers should be strengthened in adddition to the improvement of the art teaching condition. Eventually, under the guidance of the new curriculum standards, the art teaching model and method in the countryside , which is suitable for the currrent economy development in Chenzhou, has to be hunted for.
