Chinese Curriculum Standards has raised new requirements on the teaching in classical Chinese, aiming to lay a foundation of forming traditional culture-insights through the teaching of classical Chinese , which may also serve the functions of improving students' ability to read simple classical Chinese writings, widening their scope of reading, and learning how to appreciate.Concerning the apprecitation of classical chineses, words are basic tool for students to understand the essence of traditional cultural activities in humanity. Therefore, in order to meet the demands of CRS, the most important procedure is to enhance students' command of classical chineses words. The thesis mainly discusses the trial in teaching which makes students learn more of original meanings involved in monosyllabic notional words and their extended meanings in the way of analyzing font-constructions.Various types of monosyllabic notional words are classified and explained from the aspect of font-construction, which helps students' develop the system concepts for the evolution of classical Chinese and also changes their sporadic way of memorizing words. And tries to arouse students' learning interest from the graphical and cultural points of view.The trial is expected to let students have a better grasp of basic knowledge of classical Chinese writings, arouse their interest in extensive reading of it, deeply understand the cultural value entailed in classical literature and draw lessons from traditional wisdoms.
