Physical education is one of the important parts in education.To adapt to the modern trend of education development,the middle school physical education is experiencing the unprecedented transformation.In September 2001,the new reforming of sport curriculum in Chinese elementary education began.Then it was carried out all around the country in 2005.In the middle school physical education,the track and field teaching holds a greater proportion,which is considered the main part in sports teaching to promote the health.However,the previous track and field teaching always took the runs,jumps and throws as the main content,and only athletics is emphasized with simple repetition in these courses.Further more,most of them were out of date,and the contents were separated from the reality that cannot draw the students' attention.In this research,students and teachers from ten middle schools in Chengdu with methods of document,investigation,statistics and logic analysis to probe the situation of track and field teaching, and its key elements are analyzed,including teachers' situations and understanding on the new teaching standard,class hours arrangement, students' understanding on its aim,content,organization,appraisal and so on.My research is based on such questions as whether there are any changes in the middle school track and field teaching and how we should dispose of the disadvantage factors which brought in by the project itself to face the new standard and idea.We carried on an investigation of Chengdu middle schools track and field class teaching situation,and finally get such demonstrations.First of all,the large proportion of PE teachers' majors in field and track,which is advantageous for the teaching.Most teacher is optimistic for field and track teaching while they are unsatisfied with new teaching system and proceeding education; Secondly,most students think filed and track class is important but they don't like attending such class.They are nearly satisfied with teacher's teaching method.Meanwhile,student hope that the classed are arranged according to their interests,and that teachers can give them more free activities.Besides,students think that teachers are lack of communication with students.Thirdly,the PE teachers rely largely on syllabus when designing the field and track teaching,and they cannot fully apply the knowledge they learn to practice,they are lack of interests,entertainment,practice,autonomy,which cannot meet the student's requirement.The fourth,the PE teacher adopt more traditional teaching method such as presentation,demonstration than modern ones such as discussion,exploration,enlightenment.In arrangement of the class,they usually arrange the class in administrative class instead of interest or small class,the appraisal system is complete with long-time health and skill appraisal,but the operation measure is lagged behind.Student's appraisal about each other and themselves and the after-class activities are not paid much attention to.The leaders of the school actively support the field and track teaching,which provides the supportive guarantee for field and track teaching.
