The University Students who has been hailed as God's favored sons are the various types of advanced expertise in the reserve army, and charged with the hope of the entire society. Therefore, the educational development of contemporary college students is cared about from all sides. Their mental health is the most important to the university students' growth and development. It is related not only to how the individual can become a talent, but also to the more fundamental proposition about how he can become a healthy person. However, the survey in recent years has shown that the mental health of college students is not optimistic, and how to keep the mental health of college students has become a very serious problem. The colleges and universities are responsible for the historic responsibility to cultivate the advanced expertise for the cause of socialism. The 15th National Congress of Chinese Communist Party stressed that it will be related to the cause of socialism in the 21st century to cultivate hundreds of millions of high-quality workers and several tens of millions of specialized personnel, suited to the modernization; and to play a huge advantage of human resources in China. Therefore, in our study of high-quality, complex-type talents in education, we must focus on scientific research and education, so that school education should not only attach importance to improve the intelligence quotient of students, but also attach great importance to enhancing their "EQ" (Emotional Intelligence). The two is on the equally important position, so as to cultivate high-quality talents proper to the requirements of modernization in order to enable students to develop healthily. Then, what is the emotional intelligence? How about the results of the sports students' emotional intelligence? What is the inevitable relation between emotional intelligence and mental health? These are the key problems needed to be explored in this thesis. This thesis aims to employ such scientific research methods as a questionnaire, literature, interviews and mathematical statistics to make a comprehensive survey and analysis of sports college students' emotional intelligence and psychological health in China. The results show that Chinese Sports university Students' emotional intelligence is much higher than the average level of university students; that their mental health level is much closer to national youth norm but far higher than the national norm of university students, comparatively high level of mental health. Emotional intelligence and mental health are closely related. Generally speaking, students with a high emotional intelligence level are in a high level of mental health, and vice versa. Sports university students have some problems about emotional intelligence and mental health, such as, lower starting point of emotional intelligence, emotional intelligence, weakness of mental health education, etc. To cultivate the university students' emotional intelligence is a vast project; it will require the joint efforts of all aspects. The specific measures are to cultivate emotional intelligence into the teaching plan; to set up emotional intelligence files, and the construction of campus culture, with a combination of mental health education; and to foster the role of teachers and other role models. At present, our country is facing the transition from the examination-oriented education system to the quality education. In this critical period, the "EQ" education should be properly applied in our colleges and universities to let the quality education fly high like a bird, and to cultivate high-quality talents with both EQ and IQ in order to lay a solid foundation for their success in the future.
