In this rapidly developing modern society, possessing a career is no less than a means of making a living. Career development has become a base of one's settlement, a root of one's ambition and a means of self-realization. Nowadays it has grown to be a widely-concerned issue. It is therefore of great significance for everyone to receive a series of professional trainings and make necessary preparations in one's career development before he really starts involving himself in his career. As for the career of being a teacher, the teaching vocational education in the curriculum of a normal university serves the starting point as well as a phase of preparations for the roles of being a teacher in this lifelong profession. At present, as required in the market-oriented employment, the graduates from normal universities encounter increasing challenges. Thus, it arouses a meaningful discussion on the issue of teachers'career planning and development education. Based on the above consideration, normal university career planning education (CPE) is chosen as the subject of this research.Choosing the three representative normal universities in Xinjiang as research objects and applying the approaches of literature reviews, face-to-face interviews, questionnaires and surveys, observations and investigations, this thesis aims at the discovery of existing problems in career planning education (CPE) of the three normal universities and exploring valuable strategies to promote effectiveness of CPE in the three normal universities in hope of raising its practical values.By ananlizing the status of Career Guidance Centre Performance (CCCP), the results of the interviews with administrative staff and faculties, the data of questionnaires among graduates and the effects of classroom observations, the thesis has found out that there still remain many urgent problems in CPE regardless of growing progress in CCCP. These urgent problems can be summed up as follows: (1) teachers'awareness of CPE is not heightened; (2) the course establishment of CPE is not systematic, nor characteristic nor effective; (3) the form of CPE is monotonous and singular with non-customized sessions and inflexible schedules; (4) the teaching force of CPE is insufficient at a comparatively lower professional level; (5) the evaluation system of CPE is unjustifiable;(6) CPE will need to further improve effect.Attempting to solve these issues of CPE in the representative normal universities in Xinjiang in hope of promoting its effective and practical values, the author pointed out the solutions as follows: (1) to update teachers'and graduates'awareness of CPE; (2) to improve and upgrade the course curriculum of CPE; (3) to diversify the forms of CPE; (4) to enhance teachers'professional level and increase the effective enforcement of CPE; (5) to improve the evaluation system of CPE.
