As the basic activity and key link of university management, teaching management system takes an important position and play an important role. It is the institutional guarantee to train talents of high quality, and it is also an important assurance to improve teaching quality.At present, research oriented universities in our country are actively innovating teaching management system to explore methods to train students. They have implemented series of relative reforms such as academic credit system, elective system, flexible educational system, tutorial system and so on, which to great degree assure the training of talents of high quality. But for some historical and practical reasons, many problems also have emerged. These problems are mainly due to management concepts, the imperfection of elective system, tutorial system as well as teaching quality assurance and monitoring system.Based on reviewing the theoretical development history and reforms of teaching management system, the dissertation analyses the theoretical and practical reasons to implement teaching management reforms. Through kinds of research approaches such as theoretical research, comparative research and case research, the dissertation takes four research oriented universities as examples to analyses the status quo and shortcomings of undergraduate teaching management system, and puts forward several countermeasures from conceptive and institutional level by learning experience in undergraduate teaching management reforms of domestic and foreign research oriented universities.
