This study was to investigate the status of the development of school-based music curriculum carried out in middle schools in Shanghai, as well as to learn more about specific measures through observation and interview of courses. It will provide some references for the later work of the curriculum plan.Based on a survey of 222 samples from music teachers at middle schools in Shanghai, the data were collected and analyzed data with the use of both quantitative and qualitative methods.The results were summarized as follows:1. The school-based music curriculum was not yet widespread in middle schools in Shanghai.In the urban area of Shanghai it was mostly middle schools that carried out the school-based music curriculum, while in the suburbs it generally was public complete schools.2. In order to enhance the effectiveness of the art-curriculum, both of the two schools in'my case study make the best of curriculum resources in and around school. Take the teacher resources for example, they invite external teachers and combine the teachers of their own to develop professional teaching and assistant-professional teaching, and so that promote the popularity of art-education. What'more, kinds of educational resources broaden the channels of art-education, enrich the practical experiences of students. In addition, it helps students combine musical knowledge, the study and practice of skill and experiential learning, which improve musical quality at school.
