With the rapid development of economy and the arrival of the age of the mass higher education in China, social competition is becoming increasingly fierce, the undergraduates' employability is the "magic weapons" in the workplace. The practical ability and the synthetic ability are two important components of the employability. However, based on a large number of survey data, we find that the practical ability and the synthetic ability are also two defects of the undergraduates in the process of application. It also shows the weak spots of the higher education in China.Through the continuous exploration and research, the author finds that there are many defects of Chinese higher education in the teaching of complex learning task, which are connected with the poor practical ability and synthetic ability of students. Therefore, through the extensive literature research, based on the Complexity Theory, the Merrienboer's Complex Learning Theory, the Cognitive Flexibility Theory, the Cognitive Load Theory and so on, the author builds the Holistic Instructional Design Model which is in favor of cultivating and improving the students'employability. In the end, taking the course of "Modern Educational Technology" for example, the author conducts an extensive teaching practice and the teaching evaluation.First of all, the theroy of Complex Learning and the Holistic Instructional Design is summarized. Based on the results of questionnaire, the author dwells on the current situation and the reasons of the students'ability defects and points out the importance of complex learning in the university teaching. Secondly, the principles of the Metaphor Teaching Design in the Complexity Theory are analyzed. On this basis, the Complex Learning-oriented Holistic Instructional Design Model is constructed. Then, the model is used to do the teaching practice and make the corresponding teaching evaluation. Finally, the full text is summaried and the author indicates the shortcomings with a view to further study and improvement.
