The combination of E-learning and knowledge management is an important way to develop the information literacy and knowledge innovation capability of the E-learners, it is an important means for learners to obtain competitive advantage. However, at present, about personal knowledge management (PKM) in the application of E-learning, more emphasis on the acquisition, storage, application and expression of explicit knowledge, the attention of the innovation and the recessive knowledge management is not enough. In addition, because E-learning has the characteristics of interactive, timeliness, sharing and global, etc, and there are differences between E-learners and traditional students on group characteristics, autonomy, self-control abilities, etc, so it is difficult to find a personal knowledge management system (PKMS) that fit for the E-learners from existing knowledge management tool. Therefore, the research of PKMS for E-learners, especially the design method, has important theoretical significance and application value.Using the methods of literature analysis, case analysis, system science, object-oriented design, the paper has carried out from the following five aspects.(1) The analysis of the theories related to E-learning and PKM. Access to relevant information, research the characteristics, modes of E-learning and the theory of PKM. Analyze the revelation for PKM brought by Web2.0.(2) Analyze the current situation of PKMS. By analyzing the existing PKMS, find out their advantages and disadvantages.(3) Build the model of E-learners'PKM. Based on the existing model of PKM, by analyzing the characteristics of E-learners and the elements of their knowledge, build the model of E-learners'PKM.(4) Software design of the system. Using the object-oriented software design method, from the perspective of software engineering, design the software of the system. After the completion of the system design, verify and optimize the system.(5) Development of the example system. Using Visual Studio 2005 as the development platform, C# as the development language, SQL Server 2000 as the database environment, achieve the development of the system.Some research achievements are made in the follow respects through theory, design and practice.(1) The paper defines the concept of the E-learners'PKMS, determines PKM theory, relevance theory of learning, self-learning theory, cooperative learning theory, and Web2.0 concept as the theoretical basis for the research and design. Explore the characteristics and classification of the E-learners.(2) The paper obtains the model of E-learners'PKM, and analyzes the process of E-learners'knowledge acquisition from the macro and micro level. The paper thinks that the macro model of acquisition process of the learners contains four aspects, which are the creation of knowledge links, scenario-based discussion, integration of knowledge and the application of knowledge.(3) The paper obtains the design model, by the learning design and software design of the system, which thinks that, the system adopts three-tier architecture, and designed the access layer between layers. The whole system is divided into learner'knowledge acquisition subsystem, learner'knowledge system management subsystem, and system management subsystem three parts. The paper constructs software modeling method from several points of view, such as model abstraction and model process, which provides shared, reusable reference model for system development.(4) Developing an example for the system, applying design method and model of the E-learner'PKMS, which verifies their feasibility and effectiveness.The innovations of the paper are as follows:(1) In the construction of PKM model, the analysis of the elements of E-learner'knowledge is based on the after modernist concept. Therefore it pay more attention to the diversity, non-holistic and incommensurability of E-learner'knowledge, which played an important guiding role on the construction of the theoretical model.(2) The paper developed a more effective method for the E-learner'PKM, meanwhile provides theoretical basis and methodological reference for the design of the system.(3) The design of the system balances learning design and software design, which to a certain extent, improves the phenomenon of focusing on the development of functional and not very good support learning in the design of knowledge management system.The future research is mainly to further improve the combination of the knowledge acquisition process management and personal knowledge system management.
