Clustering contiguous poverty-stricken areas (CCPSAs) are less developed, so these areas conserve abundant original natural, cultural and ecological tourism resources. Nevertheless, studies about the tourism development of CCPSAs are very rare. Since CCPSAs have particular development background, features, attributes, mechanisms and modes, we can not simply mimic the modes of developed areas. Therefore, we organized this paper in light of the modes of the tourism development. We use the economic theory to construct the dynamic mechanism model of the development of CCPSAs, and then conclude with four modes of development, and compare these four modes in the end in order to provide reference for domestic tourism development of CCPSAs.In the first chapter, the paper analyzes the motives of the tourism development of CCPSAs and the backgrounds, contents, significance of the study of modes and the current studies of poverty-stricken areas, and brings about the study method and structure of this paper. The second chapter elaborates the concepts of CCPSAs, the significances of tourism development, conditions and opportunities, lists the four classical cases that have relatively good development currently, sums up the common features of the development of such areas. The third chapter incites of "model of diamonds" proposed by Potter to reach the factors that affect the tourism development of CCPSAs on theoretical basis and constructs the dynamic model of the tourism development of CCPSAs. The forth chapter introduces the basic principle of grey relational analysis and analyzes the factors of the areas of Yimeng, Xihaigu, Tibet, and Wuling that affect their respective tourism development and reaches the primary affecting factors of each area. The fifth chapter proposes the four main development modes according to the analytical results:the resource-driven mode, demand-driven mode, the government-inducing mode and the market operation mode. We introduced in detail the contents of these four modes from several aspects such as the concepts, features, applicable areas, classical cases, affecting factors, developmental models and strategies, and then compared the four modes. The sixth chapter summarizes the conclusion and prospects.
