Nowadays, China is experiencing industrialization with consuming considerable natural resources to support high economic development. Since the energy sources appear to limit the economic development, saving energy is extremely important for the national economy and the people's livelihood. Therefore, it is urgent to study the energy saving methodology for the civilian architecture which is a significant energy consumption source.Giving an example of a dwelling complex, this thesis uses the advanced theory of energy saving in architecture to study the factors in energy saving of civilian architecture. The research covers the following sections:1. This section introduces current domestic and international energy saving design for civilian architecture, summarizes the development of energy-saving civilian architecture in developed countries, and analyzes energy saving problems in the civilian architecture in China;2. This section discusses the design approaches and development of energy-saving civilian architecture based on dwelling house system, and presents the theory for the selection of relevant factors in energy saving of dwelling houses;3. Based on the practice in China, this section uses the theory of energy-saving in dwelling house system to develop a model of energy consumption in civilian architecture and to establish the corresponding criterion system. In addition, the author studied the dwelling complexes which are in the typical climate with hot summers and cold winters, collected relevant data, and conducted preliminary test and description;4. Using statistical method, the author studied the main factors in the energy...
