Labor Supply & Labor Demand Under The Population Aging

As reform goes further, the contradiction between labor supply and labor demand becomes more and more severe. The increase of unemployed people never fails to restrain the economic development of our country. When people are worrying about the excess of labor supply over labor demand which is caused by large population, another problem-"population aging"gradually becomes obvious. Under the interaction between these two population problems, how will China's the labor market be affected is worth of paying attention.This article is a case study of Fujian province. It forecasted the changing tendency of labor market from 2001 to 2030, using the data from the fifth census of Fujian, Fujian Statistical Yearbooks and Fujian Economy and Society Statistical Yearbooks. Then, according to the forecast, it introduced economic models to analyze the possible effects on economy and society caused by the change of labor market and gave out some policy advice.The article is distinguished in following four aspects. First, currently there are no such a detailed research about labor supply and labor demand in Fujian province. So this article serves as a good complement. Second, the article not only carefully defined labor supply and labor demand, but also took open economy into consideration, which all made the forecast close to reality. Third, it did well in quantitative analysis as well as qualitative analysis. The introduction of economic model made the analysis more intuitionistic and intensive. Fourth, when it comes to policy advice, instead of emphasizing on either one, it gave attention to lager population as well as population aging, which made the policy more durative.
