Mining urban development followed the law of life cycle. Mining cities can be divided into the young mining cities, the mature mining cities and the aged mining cities according to different stages of mineral exploitation. The aged mining city is a mining city whose stage of mineral resources exploitation or mineral development cycle in the recession times and the depletion times. At present, there are different degrees of difficulties in aged mining cities of china. Therefore, it is meaningful to assess capacity development and research sustainable development model of aged mining cities.The research object of this paper was the aged cities of china. This study used theory research and analogy methods, reference to domestic and foreign research. First discusses the basic concept and definition of mining urban. And then division of the life cycle on mining cities and propose a definition of aged mining city based on the use of sustainable development theory and life-cycle theory.We build a development capacity evaluation system of aged mining cities and summarize the status of mining cities and analyzed the reasons for status. We Using principal component analysis, factor analysis, summarized method to assess capacity development of aged mining cities in quality of the population module, resources to support modules, environment system modules, economic development module, the social system module.After that, the paper constructs a model of sustainable development on mining urban named "PREES model" and summarizes the meaning of mining urban sustainable development. And then discusses the transformation of the aged mining city rely on the government, Select the first pillar industry, secondary industry update, the third industry-led, integrated development of four industrial transformation model. Then, we created eight development models for aged mining urban which is the export-oriented economic development model, the private economy development model based, agricultural economic development model, high-tech development model, tourism and exhibition services development model, development model of industrial transformation, Satellite Town development model, suitable for living development model. Finally, we propose some strategy for aged mining urban sustainable development and get some inspiration.
