Project time management is an important part of project management. Project time management is to use the scientific methods to analyze the project activities included in project scope and the relationship between them, to estimate the time required on the various activities, and to arrange and control the start and end times of activities reasonably within the project time limitation. Project time management is the processes concerning the timely completion of the project. The author completed the GSM network optimization project of Olympic venues successfully by introducing the Project Management Body of Knowledge and Project Time Management Theory. This project applied mainly the critical path management method of project time management; the thesis expounds the process of project scope identification and work breakdown structure in the GSM network optimization project of Olympic venues, and also determined the project critical path, developed a project schedule according to the basic principles of critical path management method; and then through the schedule control, analyzing the project schedule in the project duration continually, grasping the dynamic progress, managing the project as well as adjusting the schedule timely while actual change occurs, so that the critical path management controlled the project schedule effectively.This thesis summarizes the importance and the successful experience of the critical path management in network optimization project and the process and standards of critical path management involved in the project process, which have a good reference on the development of the similar optimization project.
