The School Work-need Of Educational Subject And Institutional Satisfaction

This paper used Maslow's"Hierarchy of Needs"and"ERG"theories to analyse the undergraduates'School Work-needs and the types of these needs and whether the current Professional Personnel Cultivation Project could meet their needs. It took the undergraduates as the subject in the educational process and based an investigation aimed at 2347 undergraduates who are sophomore, junior and senior from HuaZhong University of Science and Technology.Firstly, we investigated their specific needs during their school work period from five aspects of courses, knowledge, abilities, skills and qualities. The inquisitional results are:(1)The undergraduates need liberal arts class and management class in Curbstone Courses and training of practical abilities in Specialized Courses.They consider the most important qualitative factors of courses are high-level instructor, the right content and other else.(2)The most pressing Knowledge-need is related to professional practice and the least is understanding academic frontiers.They want to acquire the Common Knowledge from Basic Courses and Extra Credits,the Discipline Knowledge from Basic Course in Discipline,Common Core Courses and Specialty-Oriented Courses,the Specialty Knowledge from Multi-courses.(3)The most pressing Ability-need is self-study and the least is abstract thinking.They want to acquire Learning Capability from Basic Courses and Basic Courses in General Discipline, Ideation from Basic Courses,Basic Course in Discipline and Common Core Courses, Study Capability from Multi-courses.(4) The most pressing Skill-need is capability of expression in writing and the least are language and computer class certifications except in extracurricular section.They want to acquire Linguistic Skill from Basic Courses, Computing Skill from Basic Courses in General Discipline,Basic Course in Discipline and Common Core Courses, Relevant Certificates from Extra Credits.(5) The most pressing Quality-need are scientific stuff, enterprising spirit and confidence and the least is abiding by discipline and law. They want to acquire Moral Quality and Body-mentality Quality from Basic Courses, Professional Quality from Multi-courses.Secondly, we study the types of needs. The analytic results are: the types of the School Work-needs are divided mainly into existence need, growth need and interest need. They want to meet growth need chiefly.Thirdly, we study that whether the current Professional Personnel Cultivation Project could meet their School Work-needs. The inquisitional results show that about 1/3 of undergraduates'answers are affirmative and almost 50% are partly approved.Finally,we discussed thress problems: the significance of the opinions from the Educational Subjects that whether the current Professional Personnel Cultivation Project could meet their School Work-needs;pay attention to the undergraduates'interest need; the perception about types and hierarchies of the School Work-needs.
