The word "strategy" is related with war. It sums up theories on martial activities and guides war. Strategy is applied into politics and economy in modern times. Strategy is introduced into business management because of intense competition in 1960s. Academic circle paid great attention to the study of business strategy. Many writings about strategic management are published in two decades, such as Prof. Ansoff "Business Strategy", M.E.Porter "Competitive Strategy". Strategic management was introduced into China in the middle of 1980s. Some companies started to study and used strategic methods to set up goals, and the government practiced strategic management in some state-owned enterprises. But most of companies didn't establish their own strategic management systems. Management idea and method restrict the application of business strategy. The thesis analyzes a practical management case in order to find out a method to solve the problems that domestic company meet when they carry out strategic management. In this case, the writer, by means of strategic theories explains the process of strategic management in which Sichuan Jiu Feng pharmaceutical CO., LTD. makes its business strategy.The thesis includes three parts: strategic investigation and research, strategy planning and execution. The background about the study topic is introduced in chapter 1. Methods of strategic investigation are presented in the next chapter, and the information attained from execution is analyzed in some models, such as KFS,EFE,IFE,CSM and SWOT. The thesis answers "what is the position of the company now?" in this chapter. The result of analysis is a base that company makes its strategy planning. So,in chapter 4 the article explains how the company makes its strategies for development, including grand strategy, SBU strategies and functional strategies, and answers: "where is the company going"? After analysis and planning, the company must execute the strategic plans and take measures to resolve the problems that occur in the performance in chapter 5. In the following chapter, the article discusses the strategy adjustment, and illustrates that the strategic management is a perpetual cycle process, not one fold process. The author summarizes the methods and programmers about business strategy and stresses key points in the practical performance.Because the author has participated in this strategic project, the characteristic of the thesis is its operability. In reference to means of market investigation the author combines qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze strategic problems. In a sense it is an example of strategic management for the enterprises elsewhere which carry out the similar projects.
