| Game Teaching in Ideological and Moral Courses is a newly-emerged exploration of teaching method under the new curriculum, which echoes the appeal for the effectiveness of moral education. However, this new and developing teaching method is still lacking in theoretical direction and experience to draw on. As a result, the front-line teachers, when putting game teaching into practice, are prone to deviate from its principles and thus impair its effectiveness. Studies on game teaching can help clarify the intension and extension of its concept, introduce the theoretical foundations of its daily practice, and reveal the mechanism on which it functions, as well as provide guidance for its practice with relating theories.Independent of the time-space limitations of daily life, where special orders different from the real life can be put into effect. Game teaching, on the other hand, is an activity in which teaching is conducted in the form of games. Based on games to give students moral education, this teaching method not only meets the requirements of new curriculum reform, but also conforms to the cognitive development features of middle-school students and the emphasis on experience in moral learning. It is out of its advantages mentioned above that game teaching should be introduced into Ideological and Moral Courses. The mechanism of game teaching in Ideological and Moral Courses is as followed:By integrating teaching into games and by making use of students'intrinsic motivation to join the games, their initiatives and enthusiasm to learn morals can be increased; by combining the goals of moral training and those of the game assignments, students will have to activate and enhance their moral capability so as to win out; guided by the goals of games, students will have their moral cognition, moral emotion and moral behavior reinforced and trained. When practicing game teaching in Ideological and Moral Courses, one should focus on the organization, types, functions, and applicability of the game while controlling the teaching procedure. The distinctions between games and teaching in terms of their nature and requirements have brought about some inherent difficulties when game teaching is carried out in moral education. Therefore, feasible measures have to be worked out so that the effectiveness of this teaching method can be strengthened. |
