Ordinary high school education as a basic education is an important part of the wholeeducation system, a role between compulsory education and higher education, which shouldersthe sacred mission of educating talents. However, people have high hopes for the ordinary highschool time, it lost itself, High school scores first, teaching is only for top students, students learnquick success and so on, and all kinds of problems emerge in an endless stream. If theseproblems are not solved, the development of high school education is worrying. To solveproblems, high school should be implemented to educating people as general education.Firstly, through the literature review, to define the concept of general education, mainly fromthe concept of education, content of education, personnel training mode three aspects tounderstand the concept of general education. The two parts summarizes the general education ofhigh school through the America:1. American high school type integration, comprehensiveschool both general education and occupation education, undertakes the education, employmentand general education three tasks.2. There are diversified training objectives of high schooleducation in America.3. American high school curriculum is divided into compulsory corecourses, elective courses autonomous and independent research program in three forms.4. Theselection criteria are diversified. The third part, division of Arts and Sciences were discussed, thecollege entrance examination system is the system obstacle of general education. The fourth part,the ordinary high school is necessary to implement general education.Through the first four parts introduction of the Sino-US high school education, it is notdifficult to see that the ordinary high school of China’s implementation of general educationdirection. First, changing the idea of education turned to educating people-oriented educationfrom elite education. Secondly, Students of humanities and science literacy be promoted. Again,we should establish a diversified and integration of general education curriculum system. Onceagain, we should establish a high school student counseling and guidance system to guidestudents to better understand their own. Finally, we should strengthen exchanges and cooperationwith the domestic and foreign various senior high school and Universities.
