A Study On The Competence Of College Instructors

The college counselor is an essential part of ranks of college and universities teachers.The college counselor is also the backbone force of developing college student ideological and political education and college student work. Although we achieved some outstanding results,college counselor are still facing many new problems and new challenges.Both faculty present situation and working status quo are not good as everyon eexpected.Thus,there is a difficult problem infront of college counselor that is how to improve own ability and how to meet development requirements of ideological and political education in the new period.In recent years,with the deep researching of competence,the results have penetrated into the building of college counselors’ faculty. Led by competence theory,we explore the structure of competency which meets There quirements of college counselor’ work,which is an importan force to promote the processof "professional,specialized", also becomes an effective way to increase the effectiveness of ideologica land political education in college.The Purpose of this dissertation is to explore the competency model of University counselors,to construct the teacher competency questionnaire and assess the level of the university counselors competency;some methods such as literature analytic method, behavior eventinterview, questionnaire,factor analysis are used in this study.This research divided into three parts:Part one is university counselor competency literature research,by analyzing the1 iterature which formerly studied, and using structurized interview in the foundation to carry on the interview to the outstanding university counselors,analyzing the interview, we obtain the university counselors competency dictionary.Part two is the supposition competency model study for the university counselor,and carried on the behavior event interview into the university counselor,and carried on the code according to university counselor literature,used the analytic method to carry on the analysis to the interview result,obtain the competency charaeter project of the university counselor,formed the preliminary university counselor competency model.Part three is the university counselor model confirmation researeh,throughanalyzing the university counselor behavior assessment questionnaire to confirmation the university counselor competency model set before.And also we will do some analysis with the management of university counselors such as the recruitment,training, assessment and so on.Through this research,we come to the results that university counselor competency items ineluded work attitude,interpersonal communication,self control,the ability to solve problems,professional knowledge,extraversion,the sense of responsibility,occupation characteristics and principle.
