Domestic and international research shows that student non-participation may lead students drop out of school and other acts. Student engagement can improve students’ academic performance. Most IT teachers have noted the importance of student engagement. But they are ambiguous in the concept of student participation. Most teachers based on their own experience to talk about how to improve student engagement, and has not been systematically studied. What is real student engagement in IT classroom? What is the situation of student engagement? What is the factors of influence student engagement? The present study is to reveal the contents.In this study were combined with interviews, field observations and unstructured questionnaire to determine the meaning and structure of IT teaching junior high school student engagement. Combing through documents, sorting out the potential impact of factors affecting the junior high school students were involved in the learning environment, teaching, self-efficacy, parental support, and teaching content. Learning from theory and research questionnaire, we find the surveys and questionnaires factors of students participation during junior high school IT classes. After a pilot test, select H high school first grade of two classes carried out the implementation of a formal test. Using SPSS 17.0 statistical processing of the data, the students were involved in situation analysis, the differences of student engagement, student engagement in the three-dimensional degree of correlation, the factors, differences in factors were analyzed, and based on previous studies factors established model were tested and corrected.Research shows that student engagement of middle school IT classes includes behavioral, cognitive and emotional participation. Among them, the behavior can be divided into concentration and studying two factors; cognitive engagement can be divided into dependent strategy, tactics shallow and deep strategy three factors; emotional involvement into positive emotions and negative emotions two factors. Participation behavior, cognitive engagement, emotional involvement was pairwise correlation. Statistical analysis showed that junior high school students to participate actively in the overall level, junior high perceived level of four factors are also relatively high.Using path analysis to get the following conclusion, learning environment, teachers’ teaching, self-efficacy and parents support are significant positive influence on student engagement, but for the cognitive, emotional participation the way of influence vary. Learning environment, a direct impact on behavior in teachers’ education, parents’ support and self-efficacy directly influence on cognitive participation, learning environment, parents support direct influence on the emotions involved, other factors have indirect impact on the corresponding component. Composed of different factors of different factors would be composed of different dimensions of student engagement factors have positive or negative effects.The study enriches the theory on the basis of student engagement in the school, and provides a concrete and feasible proposals in promoting student engagement for schools, teachers and parents.
