Thomas is one of the most representative difficulty actions in Group A difficulty, which is also related to the competition score of athletes closely. Many mistakes are made during finishing the Thomas action in Chinese Competitive Aerobics. There is a research shows that the major reason of losing point in finishing Thomas Action is the loss of strength in body trunk. Most of training team use conventional strength training method to increase the strength of athletes’ body trunk. Recently, functional trunk strength training is gradually used in the training of different projects. In this research, by using experimental method, 20 competitive aerobics athletes from JinDing gym are tested to compare the difference between functional trunk strength training and conventional trunk strength training, aiming to discover high efficient and rational method to increase trunk strength and reduce the losing point of Thomas action phenomena in competitive aerobics. Several conclusion are given:The scores of eight abdominal bridge tests of both groups are increased and the increasing extent of experimental group is larger than that of comparison group. The functional trunk strength training and conventional trunk strength training are adopted for experimental group and comparison group respectively. Both of two training method can increase athletes’ trunk strength, which is good for increasing the score of eight abdominal bridge test.Both of functional and conventional trunk strength training can increase the quality of Thomas action for athletes. The experimental group is much more focused on typical exercising, controlling of balance and center of gravity and multi-joint linkage effect. Therefore, functional trunk strength training is better the conventional method in the field of improving the quality of Thomas action.In this experiment, the functional trunk strength training that the experiment group adopted pays more attention in joint development of muscles and the cooperation relation between muscles in different parts of body in joint motions, which is good to increase the height of center of gravity during finishing a Thomas action.The functional trunk strength training is good for increasing the opening degree of straddle leg due to it can provide a more stable and balanced supporting environment.The functional trunk strength training can effectively increase the strength of athletes. It can improve the controllability of body, especially the shoulder angle when the athlete is doing a Thomas action.
