This paper is to investigate the definition of the development of school curriculum and other related concepts, its progress both at home and abroad, the main principles that guide its process, its development procedure, its evaluation approach and its examples of cases, based on the former development of theoretical research into the field, instructed by the outlines and new ideas about the reform of the elementary education curriculum, relied on pedagogies, geography, theory of geography teaching goal and its evaluation system, as well as methods including comparative study, comprehensive analysis, bibliography, and inductive approach, etc.By synthesis comparison between various definitions of school curriculum, we can conclude that it refers to all forms of curriculum activities. It is operated by the schools resting on their own idea of management, the characteristics, the conditions and the resources available, and depending on teachers as the leading policy-makers, participated by students, parents, curriculum experts and members of the community, with the purpose of satisfying the need of school students to study and grow up.From the comparison between the domestic and foreign examples, we see that the goal of developing school curriculum may concern:To satisfy students' diversified demand in their studyTo raise students' interest in their studyTo develop students' individuality and special skillsTo enhance students' overall accomplishmentThe essence of the curricular reform is the innovation inside the teacher, without which the reform can only be an empty talk. The practice of geography curricular reform profoundly proves that the enhancement of the inner quality is the crucial problem. The administrative department of education and the school leaders must attempt different methods to improve geography teachers' inner quality.The practice proves that the traditional system of geography curricular appraise no longer meets the need of curricular reform. To change the obsolete system of appraise into a new one is extremely urgent to ensure success. Therefore geography teachers are required to keep on with the study of appraising scheme.
