The fundamental aim of national defense education is to enhancethe awareness of citizenship and propagate the patriotism andrevolutionary heroism. It can make people acquire more knowledge ofnational defense and foster them with strong willing, skills and physique.Universities or colleges, the bases of fostering high quality talents, havetwo important tasks, that's, to impart knowledge of science and cultureand mold spirit characters of students. Carrying out military training incolleges is not only a sacred duty entrusted by law, but also the basicrequirements of implementing the laws and regulations. It hasimportantly theoretical significance for construction of China'smodernized national defense, as well as practical significance for thequality-oriented education of college students.China's national defense education advances and develops withtimes based on the traditional national defense education. Regulated bylegislation in organization, content, methods and means, China'snational defense education has entered a new stage. By strengthening thepublicizing of the national defense, colleges begin to establish a newmode of national defense education. Meanwhile, at universities orcolleges, in the education process, the content has changed from simplestress combat readiness concepts into integrated education of ethics,intellect, physique, and the ways and means have been diversified andtangible. Form the angle of a three-dimensional model, national defenseeducation can be outlined as follow:1. Outline of the three-dimensional mode of the national defenseeducation. We scientifically elaborate the connotations ofthree-dimensional model of the National Defense Education and theNational Defense Education in universities or colleges.2. Basic characteristics of the three-dimensional model of thenational defense education. On the basis of connotations ofthree-dimensional model, we conclude its essential characteristics: it isstandardized, penetrating and integration. 3. Basic functions of three-dimensional model of the nationaldefense education. The characteristics of three-dimensional model ofnational defense education enable it to promote the development ofhuman resources, national defense reserve and comprehensive abilitiesof the college students during its educating process.4. Tentative plan of implementation of college national defenseeducation. The focus of this article is that three-dimensional modelneeds a scientific education programs, methods and good environment,and then to keep the innovation of content of the times.
