In the 21st century,education in our country is transforming from the "exam-oriented education" to "quality education" while a new round of curriculum reform is being in full swing. Teachers are the main body to carry out the quality education and curriculum reform,so the key to quality-education and curriculum reform lies in the teachers,and the most important thing is the quality of teachers.Geographic literacy occupies a unique position that can not be ignored and plays an irreplaceable special role in the national basic literacy.Geography curriculum can not be replaced in the functional aspects by other subjects on cultivating patriotic feelings, environmental education,promoting the harmonious of the knowledge,skills and the world and improving the ability of the students to adapt the lives in the future.The implementation of quality education requests geography education to bear the new duty of environmental education, cultivating creativity and promoting all-round development of students.Only high-quality teachers being able to cultivating high-quality students,the quality of geography teachers in the senior middle school will be more and more attended.To get to know about the quality of the geographic teachers in the senior middle schools of Ji'ning,the author of the thesis uses the questionnaire and relevant theoretical analysis methods.With statistic analysis of the data,as basis,the author of the thesis makes some practical proposals and strategies to improve the quality of geographic teachers in senior middle schools in their continued education.According to the relevant theories of education,the author of the thesis works out a questionnaire focused on the quality of teachers.It mainly includes four aspects:(1)the teachers' career ethics;(2)the teachers' professional quality;(3)the teachers' abilities of teaching;(4)the teachers' ability about reflective teaching.The thesis,at first,discusses some basic issues on the quality of teachers,especially the geographic teachers,then it carefully analyzes the results of the questionnaire one by one.At last it puts forward the countermeasures and suggestions on improving the quality of geographic teachers from both the macro and micro levels.The method is questionnaire based the investigation supplemented,by interviews,and ease studies in the author's research.A test has been done to 116 geographic teachers in 10 senior middle schools selected in Ji'ning city.There are three kinds of schools including the schools of provincial,city-level and county-level standardization.Through the analysis of the questionnaire, the author gets the following conclusions:(1)the overall quality of the geographic teachers is high in the senior middle schools,and it can basically meet the need of teaching;(2)there are some differences among qualities.For example,the geographic knowledge of the teachers is profound while the general knowledge is relatively poor;(3) there are some differences varying in region, sex,age,seniority and so on;(4)the continuing education of the geographic teachers still needs to be further strengthened.Discussing the above-mentioned issues in the thesis,advice is given on how to improve the quality of teachers in the present situation from both the macro and micro level.The macro strategies and proposals by the author of the paper are listed as follows:(1) The reform of the teacher education should be deepened,and pre-teaching training model should be set up;(2)Scientific evaluation of the quality of teachers should be evaluated,and the quality of teachers will be improved effectively;(3)The government should take effective measures and provide a strong protection to improve the quality of teachers;(4)The continuing education of the teachers should be enhanced so that to promote the sustainable development of the geography teachers.The micro strategies and proposals by the author of the paper are listed as follows:(1)Enhance professional ideals of the geographic teachers in the senior middle schools;(2)Optimize the knowledge structure of the geographic teachers in the senior middle schools;(3)Cultivate teaching ability of the geographic teachers in the senior middle schools;(4)Improve the reflecting ability of the geographic teachers in the senior middle schools.
