Research On Input And Output Efficiency Of Doctoral Unit In China Universities Based On DEA

With the development of doctoral unit in China universities, how to collocate the resources of doctoral unit become a common theme. In the 1990s, doctoral unit in China universities enter a high speed period, the scale of doctoral unit in China universities is colse to that in western country,but because the doctoral education started late in China, there are some distance between the developmental level of doctoral unit in China universities and other western country universities. The reseach mostly focus on the efficiency of high education, scientific research system or colleage, the study on the efficiency of doctoral unit are rarely. At the same time, these reseach on doctoral unit cannot provide the direction to the practice. So it's very important to study on the the input-output efficiency of doctoral unit. It can provide a direction for the development of doctoral unit.According to the trait of doctoral unit, this paper set up the evaluation of input-output index system and use the method of DEA to evaluate input-output efficiency of the doctoral unit in 29 universities which directed under ministry of education, and it calculated the input redundancies and output deficiency of relative universities in DEA inefficiency. Meanwhile, this paper assembled the different index and anlysed their efficiency.The main conclusions as follows:1. There are 18 universities in DEA efficiency and 11 universities in DEA inefficiency, the proportion is apart to 62.07% and 37.93%. It shows that the input-output efficiency of the universities is high as a whole.2. There are 18 universities in CRS(constant return to scale) 4 universities in DRS (decreasing return to scale)and 7 universities in IRS(increasing return to scale). The proportion is apart to 62.07%,13.79% and 24.14%.It shows that almost universities is in CRS or IRS.3. Through the projection analysis, this paper pionts out the detail input redundancies and output deficiency of 7 universities in DEA inefficiency.Mean while it gave out the projected value.4. Through evaluated the efficiency of different unit of index, we discovered that the universities which in DEA efficiency stay in a high level, the efficiency of the mid-state universities is highly in some unit and lowly in the other unit.There also have some universitities which in DEA inefficiency were in high efficiency on some unit.
