In China, Art Education in secondary school has a special status in our school education, it has its realistic significance of improving students in humanities, and developing them to a comprehensive and healthy ones. In order to advance quality education, the new curriculum standards are completely in line with the concept of Postmodernism, which has brought an entirely new ideas improving Art Education in middle schools in Nan Yang area of Henan province, and then inspiring the reform and development of art teaching in middle school. Art Education Model is a mediate link between the teaching theory and teaching practice. Therefore, the key in this research is how to break through the traditional art Education Model in Nan Yang area of Henan province, and then creates a new art Education Model under the guidance of Postmodernism theory, which adapts to the requirement of quality education and also the art curriculum standards.Postmodernism is a new cultural trend and a product of the spirit of the age, which originated from the criticism and reform of the values of modernism, against the traditional concept of modern education, gradually developed on the basis of criticism of the modernism and rationalism. Postmodernism grew up in fifty or sixty times of the 20th century in Europe, since the nineties of the 20th century, Chinese scholars have increasingly concerned about such trend, and in the meantime, our research methods of educational science has an undergoing change by its influence.Based on the investigation of the art teaching in middle schools in Nanyang area of Henan province, we found that the overall development level is seriously backward, there develops extremely imbalance between urban and rural areas, and on the other hand, the teaching model is still a single and traditional one. The paper comes up with some strategies and recommendations on the basis of systematical illustration of the main factors to affect the Art Education, for promoting the healthy development of the Art Education in middle school in this area.The paper is divided into five parts: the introduction explains the reasons for the proposed research subject, the object and content of the study and the main study methods adopted in this paper; In the second part, it brings up the main ideas and the basic characteristics of Postmodernism and also the impact on the development of modern education, and then come out with new teaching ideas combining some favorable ideas of Postmodernist with current situation of Art Education in secondary schools in our country. The third part analyzes the main factors for the limited development of Art Education in middle schools in Nanyang area of Henan province, that is, the poor concept of Art Education, the single teaching model, the weak faculty sufficiency, the shortage of curriculum resources and so on. Therefore, a new teaching concept instead becomes a main task. The fourth part introduces some strategies in practice and a new educational concept for promoting the compulsory education in Nanyang area of Henan Province. Such new concept starts from the education aim of Postmodernism, with a new perspective to study the Art Education model in middle schools, and generate a new Education Model applied in teaching, which offers the art teaching in middle schools in Nanyang area of Henan province an effective theory, measures, methods and means, so the art teaching can be carried out more effectively in the classroom, and simultaneously push the arts curriculum reform progress. In the last part, it concludes that changing the current situation in Art Education in this area is a long-term problem that requires cooperation and support from all aspects and also the efforts made together by researchers, educators, managers who care about the Art Education in middle schools in Nanyang area. It is wanted to draw upon the essence of Postmodernism ideology, promote the progress of Art Education in middle schools, improve the overall quality of students and cultivate more excellent people.
