Since the inception of new curriculum reform from2001, it is of great urgency to establish new teacher-student relations under the guidance of the new curriculum concept. The nature and quality of the said relations play an important role in promoting education and teaching, thereby exerting great impact on students'physical and mental development. Moreover, it can influence the implementation of the new curriculum reform with an aim to achieving the new curriculum objectives. Against the backdrop of curriculum reform, this paper conducts a questionnaire survey on the status quo of teacher-student relations and interviews the respondents. Based on the analysis made on the problems existing in the said relations, the paper also provides some suggestions for the purpose of establishing harmonious relations between teachers and students. This paper consists of the following four parts:Chapter One puts forward the major issues that will be discussed in this paper and summarizes the status quo from the perspective of subject-object problem, the gradation, and multi-perspective study in teacher-student relation as well as the research on teacher-student communication. And then it demonstrates the theoretical and practical value of this research followed by the methods adopted in this study.Chapter Two illustrates how to define the basic concepts, iron out the problems arising from the study and choose the theoretical perspective. Specifically speaking, it covers the definition of teacher-student relation, emphasis on the necessity and importance of the said relations, summary of the characteristics of junior school students. It taps on the communication theory and modern harmony theory to act as the theoretical basis.Chapter Three analyzes the problems existing in the junior school teacher-student relations based on the data and information collected through the survey and interviews. With the support of the analysis results, it further assays the reasons leading to the said problems from the following aspects:teacher, student, school, family and society.Chapter Four proposes some feasible strategies to build harmonious teacher-student relations in response to the said reasons with a view to improving the current teacher-student relation.
