Study On The Factors Of Fenghuang County Residents Participate In Tourism Development

With the rapid development of the tourism industry of China, community participation has become an important way to attain sustainable development of tourism. Community is not only the contact between economic development and environmental protection, but also one of the stakeholders of the development of the tourist attractions. The process of community participation can improve the development of the tourism industry and create the opportunity to improve the harmonious development of the community. In order to achieve better community participation and better tourism development, influencing factors that impact the community participate should be considered and studied, including the relationship between various factors and the relationship between the residents'participation. Based on that, new methods to improve community participate will be offered in more accurate way.Based on a summary and analysis of relevant literature, combined with expert interviews and other research methods, this paper built the factor system that impacts community participation of ancient city of Phoenix. On this basis, we obtained the data and related empirical research information through questionnaire survey. Research hypothesizes were proved by a serious of analysis including reliability analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, exploratory factor analysis, independent sample t test and correlation analysis in SPSS17.0 statistical software system. Conclusions were found as below: (1) The influencing factor system that this paper built is established. The system contains three parts-residents themselves, factors within the community and external environmental factors; (2) Residents'own characteristics such gender,age and education can affect Factors for the resident. On contrary, marital status of residents have week effect on the factors; (3) Notable positive correlation exists between the external environment such as political level, economic level, the level of the overall development of the tourism industry and the residents own factors. No significant correlation exists between the level of cultural development and the factors of residents themselves; (4) Factors within the community factor including government agencies and NGOs were significantly correlated with the resident factors. On the other hand, no significant correlation exits between the city developers and the residents themselves.As a result, based on influencing factors system and the empirical analysis, the paper proposed measures about how the community residents of Phoenix participate in the development of the tourism industry. It also points out the deficiencies of the study and the prospects for future research.
