The De'ang ethnic group is one of the seven ethnic groups with less population. Santaishan Town is the only De'ang ethnic group town and also the largest concentration region of De'ang ethnic group. Since the reform and opening up, multiple support measures have been taken by the nation, for example, Promoting the border areas and Causing the people wealthy motion, Poverty relief motion and so on. In the vertical aspect, Santaishan Town is in forward step by step, but in the horizontal aspect, there is still a considerable gap with the other ethnic groups and other regions. In recent years, under the impetus of supporting the ethnic groups with less population policy, Santaishan Town made full use of development opportunities, the integration of financial support from various quarters and project support, thereby bringing about leap frog development. Economy, society and culture have undergone earth-shaking changes.This study starts from the national policy of supporting the ethnic groups and then takes further study on the policy from theoretical and practical aspects. It's on the basis of analyzing a typical case—Santaishan De'ang ethnic group town in Yunnan Province Dehong state. During the process of the policy implementation, how many actual effects have been obtained in the support goals and the development projects? The selective analyses are Santaishan Town people's productive forces level, the infrastructure condition, the human quality, the change of life quality as well as the realizing degree of "the Tubing cross, five have, three achievements". From those, we can understand the situation on carrying out the policy of supporting the ethnic groups with less population. By finding out the existence of the prominent problems in the policy and further improvement proposals, we can gain experience and insights in the process of supporting the De'ang ethnic groups.This paper studies the further measures and advices on the development of the De'ang ethnic group in Santaishan Town. It provides guidance on promoting a comparative prosperity and development of building socialistic harmonious society for other ethnic group regions with less population.
