Study On Location Choice Of MNCs'R&D Investment In China

With the world economic integration and technological globalization development, in order to meet more intense global competition, MNC has changed its R&D investment mode. In the past, they R&D investment located in the home country, but now MNC begin to gradually increase R&D investment in overseas. China has become a hotspot of MNC R&D invest overseas. Relative to production mode and sales mode direct investment in China, MNC R&D investment in China is more uneven, with its own laws and characteristics. In this paper, my research focus on MNC R&D investment location choice in China.On one hand, provide evaluation methods to help MNC R&D investment in China;On the other hand,its help local government improve local R&D investment environment more effective.In this paper,I analysis MNC R&D investment in china from the location distribution,industy distribution,origin country and investment mode.The result shows that the overall geographical distribution showed decreasing from east to west,and it highly concentrated in Shanghai, Beijing, Suzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Guangzhou. Mainly concentrated in electrical and electronics, information and software; these R&D instutions mainly come from US, Japan and European,China Taiwan and Hongkong R&D investment in China increasingly; Dominated by sole proprietors. Productive FDI investment, strong industrial base, technological advantages,government support and other factors influence MNC R&D invest in China.The main conclusions of this paper are:1,R&D environment is the most important factor of MNC R&D investment location in China.This factor include Degree of foreign policy concessions,FDI,the number of patent applications granted,value of high-tech products and ecports of goods.2,R&D resources is the second important factor.It include R&D expenditure to region's GDP,the number of college students,the number of universities and the number of R&D.3,MNC R&D invest also affect by regional infrastructure and economic factors.the infrastructure factor include annual passenger volume,business volume of post and telecommunication and local fiscal science expenditure. the economic factor include GDP,average GDP,annual wages of worker. 4,the research find out that Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Tianjing, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Chongqing MNCs'R&D inveatment environment is superior;the rest of city's investment environment relatively poor.
