Study On Humanity Design Of Urban Square

Urban Square is an important part of the city public space, and fully reflected the city’s history, culture and art style, the spiritual symbol of the city. Square space provides the space of resting and contacting for people, and plays an important role in enhancing contact and enriching cultural life. In recent years, with the acceleration of urbanization, professionals and the community play attention on urban square landscape construction which has become the research hotspot of the modern landscape architecture. However, for a long time because of emphasizing on the design concepts about function division, economic efficiency and formalism, ignoring the user’s behavior and psychological needs, resulting in the people’s losing in some urban square landscape construction process. From the person’s behavior or social activities to inspire and create a city square landscape, it has important guiding significance to make urban square become understanding and love people between people.To start from the user’s standpoint, this paper conducts a systematic investigation of Nanning city square which is being used after the design. From the viewpoint of landscape behavior’s study, this paper evaluates how the square has been used (who work or live around, who has a potential possibility to use this location, who use the location and how do they use it), which parts of the square have succeeded (landscape boundary, entrance, path, facility, main plant, playground and so on), which essential factors have been neglected frequently (the utilization of the neighboring land, the view inside and outside the location, transportation organization, the neighboring units and so on). On that basis, this paper discovers the way people stay, regard and use the urban square of different ages, sexes and cultural backgrounds, as well as the landscape function’s influence on person’s behaviors. This paper analyzes the connection and the interactive rule between the landscape and the behavior thoroughly, explores how to design the urban square landscape into the space which contains the mutual understanding and loving concern between people, in order to seek the appropriate guide rule of the urban square landscape user-friendly design and provide the solid theoretical basis for future urban square landscape design.
