The Positive Effect Of Trados On Improving Translator Learning Capability And Translation Productivity

As the translation industry develops, a wide range of Computer Aided Translation(CAT) tools integrating the technology of Translation Memory (TM) are being applied toimprove the quality and productivity of translation, among which TRADOS is the leadingproduct. Using examples taken from some contracts and corporate documents, this thesisdiscusses how TRADOS may be used to help translators gaining new knowledge in a shorttime and the translation productivity. The first part of the thesis demonstrates howTRADOS may assist translators in learning background information and mastering stylisticfeatures of specific texts; and the second part shows how TRADOS may improvetranslation productivity through its translation memory, automatic matching, terminologymanagement, multiple editing environments and desktop publishing functionality.
