The paper intends to introduce research on application of Trados in translating medical English as well as its advantages on translation efficiency, translation quality and proofreading. The use of computer-aided translation software enables the translator to improve considerably both the quality and the efficiency of translation. Translation memory helps translators to store their translations, relieving them from dull routine work.Based on some original medical field texts and its translation texts, the paper attempts to explore the advantages of Trados on medical English translation from three aspects, including translation efficiency, translation quality and proofreading. This paper also introduces the principle of Trados and analyzes the translation process of the chosen texts, aiming to provide some reference for the translation of medical field texts and promote people’s cognition on computer-aided translation software.Chapter one introduces research significance of computer-aided translation software on medical English translation, including the domestic research status of medical English and computer-aided translation. Chapter two gives a brief description about the history and rational of computer-aided translation. Chapter three analyzes stylistic features and translation criterion of medical English, concluding that medical English is especially suited to utilizing Trados for translation. Chapter four starts with core function and standardized translation flow of Trados, then analyzes its strengths on translation efficiency, translation quality and proofreading during the medical English translation process, which points out the deficiency of Trados and puts forward some suggestions for solution.
