Science fiction is a special literary genre which helps to develop an interest inscience and inspires readers to think more about social reality. As a kind of popularform, science fiction becomes more and more popular among Chinese readers inrecent years; the science fiction has begun to flourish at home and abroad. Warmth is atypical science fiction, which is chiefly characterized by literariness, scientificity andfancy. In addition to the common features of science fiction works, the uniquecharacteristic of Warmth is that it combines science fiction and humanism perfectly,which makes this work be imbued with humanistic feelings.In accordance with the above characteristics, the English-Chinese translation ofthis novel and analytical part are mainly based on the techniques of domestication andforeignization with the multiple translation strategies adopted in translation process.The translation process also involves the issue of how to apply “literal translation andfree translation” and “domestication and foreignization” comprehensively andflexibly.This thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter gives a generalintroduction of the background information of the work and the information of theauthor. Chapter two first illustrates the characteristics and features of science fictiongenerally and then narrows down to the features of the present work. Chapter threeanalyzes the theories and strategies applied in the translating process. In addition tothe depicts of the theories and techniques, chapter three also reveals my personalgains from this translation practice. Conclusion of this thesis is drawn in the lastchapter.
