This is a translation project report for “Retrieving Meaning in TeacherEducation: The Question of Being” written by Karl Hostetler, Margaret A. MacintyreLatta and Loukia K. Sarroub. The article was published in Journal of TeacherEducation, Volume58, No.3, May/June2007, which is the publication of theAmerican Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE). In this article, theauthors examine “meaning” and “action” within the “good” work of teaching andlearning, and also offer their experiences as an educational anthropologist, educationalphilosopher, and teacher educator who strive to retrieve and pursue meaning andBeing as common resources and aspirations. This report analyses the contents andlanguage characteristics on the basis of the introduction of the authors andbackground. The report is about the study of cross-culture which aims atcommunication. Therefore, the report mainly discusses the translation methods ofinterdisciplinary terms and simple polyseme in detail under the guidance of theFunctional Equivalence Theory.
