Government performance assessment is an effective management way. It plays an mportant role in improving government performance, monitoring government action and promoting the image and credibility of the government. It reflects the development direction of government’s management which seeks social justice and democratic values. Its purpose is (?)o safeguard the existing basic social order, to improve service quality and public accountability mechanisms, to strengthen the government’s appeal to the public sectors and to enhance its public cohesion. However, the work on the government performance assessment of Kazuo County has just started which has many imperfections. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a deep research according to the actual situation in Kazuo County.Some problems exist in the work on the government performance assessment of Kazuo County:administrative officials have insufficient understanding of performance assessment; the index system of performance assessment is unreasonable; people who conduct the assessment stay spontaneous, or semi-autonomous; the main constitution of the assessment is not scientific; the results of the assessment differ in their quality. In the paper, the author proposed a number of recommendations and solutions in order to solve the problems mentioned above. Firstly, government of Kazuo Xian should establish a correct concept of government performance assessment, enhance the study on it, and foster a correct view of the achievements. Secondly, perfect government performance assessment system of Kazuo County to enhance the diversification of assessment avoiding the main assessment too oversimplified. Thirdly, improve government performance assessment System of Kazuo County. Fourthly, develop appropriate supporting measures of performance assessment to promote the development of complaints mechanism, feedback mechanisms and monitoring mechanism. As a result, the work on government performance evaluation of townships could meet the real needs of society and the public, and meanwhile ensure democracy and political stability, steady yet fast economic growth, social justice and equality, and the improvement of living standards.
