From the autumn semester of the year2009, Hubei Province began to comprehensively carry out New Curriculum Revolution. Schools of the whole province started to use the experimental textbooks which are published by People’s Education Press under new curriculum standards. In the new curriculum standards, it is clearly brought out that education should make students "enhance their cultural awareness, value the inheritance of excellent cultural heritages and respect and understand multi-culture". The new versions of Chinese textbooks varied a lot in the selection and compiling of foreign literature works, which has brought the teaching of foreign literature works which has been ignored for long to a new level in senior middle schools. In2012, the first round of teaching in the New Curriculum Revolution will come to an end. In this process, issues such as problems in foreign literature teaching and more effective ways of its teaching are what every Chinese teacher in senior middle schools should make summaries and introspection. It is just based on this very point that this paper tries to provide some suggestions and countermeasures for these issues starting from the studying of the status quo of its teaching, in order to provide some valuable and feasible teaching methods for the first-line Chinese teachers and to make the teaching of foreign literature works in senior middle schools effective and more efficient.This paper is composed of the following parts:The introduction, which expatiates the meaning of this research and classifies scholars’research in this field in China and defines some important concepts appeared in the paper; The first chapter, which will make a contrast to the selection and compilation of foreign literature works respectively in the2003version textbook and the2007version textbook which is under the new curriculum revolution, analyses the great changes taken place in aspects of article election, compilation system and selection ideas, and points out that these has brought out new requirements for first-line teachers in ideology, knowledge and roles that they play; The second chapter, which starts from questionnaires for students and teachers, analyzes main problems existing in present senior middle school foreign literature teaching and then probes into the causes of these problems;The third chapter, which, aiming to current problems in foreign literature teaching, tries to put forward systematic teaching methods for foreign literature works teaching in senior middle schools and brings forward feasible suggestions on three aspects of transformation in ideology, teaching methods improvement in class and effective guidance in extra-curriculum reading.
