In this paper, general survey, questionnaire surveys and case studies and other methods are used, combined with the examination test and interview, for the research of the ability of problem solving of poor math-studied students in the high school. It’s found through the survey that the poor math-studied students in high school aren’t good at the basic knowledge and skills in the textbooks. And so are they at the simple reasoning and computing. Their basic mathematical abilities of spatial imagination, abstraction, reasoning, computing and solving, data processing are still in a relatively low level. Their ability of solving problem is poor too.According to the results of questionnaire and interview, the author believes that the reasons caused the poor ability of mathematical problem solving of poor math-studied students in high school have five aspects:firstly, low level of mastering basic knowledge and skills; secondly, inappropriate learning methods; thirdly, bad habits of solving problems; fourthly, lack of motivation of learning math; fifthly, wrong attribution. As for these reasons, the author proposes corresponding measures. First of all, there are measures for the common characteristics of the poor math-studied students in the high school:firstly, focusing on the acquirement of basic knowledge and skills; secondly, teaching them the correct ways to learn math; thirdly, getting into a good problem-solving habit; fourthly, enhancing the poor math-studied students’motivation of learning math; fifthly, paying attention to the proper psychological guidance. After those, there are measures for the individual difference of the poor math-studied students:firstly, truly concerning about the poor math-studied students; secondly, teaching individually and offering individual guidance.
