The backbone class teachers in primary school play a pioneering role in curriculum reform of elementary education and school development. The training of the backbone class teachers in primary school is an important approach for promoting their professional level. Needs analysis is the premise and foundation of a successful training. To get a correct grasp of training needs and have a clear personalized character are of great significance to the training effects and a further improvement of the backbone class teachers in primary school.On the premise of a clear work domain and based on the theory of teacher professional, class teacher professional, training system, competence and adult education, the function of the teachers in charge of class are divided into administrator, moral tutor, constructor, psychologist, coordinator and teacher according to the social role they undertaken. In addition, the competence of class teachers is integrated into the mentioned six roles according to their different working properties. This essay adopts needs analysis mode based on competence, makes it clear about the competence which the backbone class teachers in charge of class ought to have from the levels of organization, mission and personnel, and forms an expectative training target.The state of the competence the backbone class teachers in charge of class ought to have was thoroughly investigated by questionnaire survey and interview. The results indicate that the competence the teacher has in all of the mentioned six roles well, but somewhat poor in case of class administration, psychological treatment and morality education, which need to have a future improvement. Considering that the personalized character has certain impacts on their competence, so we need to take their tenure in office, the level of their school, their final academic degree, and etc into consideration during teachers’training and design different training curriculums to satisfy teachers’ personalized needs.In addition, from the crossing contrast of expectative target, competence conditions and personal needs of excellent teacher in charge of class, it demonstrates that the main training needs include the following ten items. Teacher morality and the knowledge used to keep a healthy psychology, theory and strategy of class administration, theory and way of moral education, theory and strategy of psychology treatment, laws and regulations of teachers in charge of class, application of modern educational technology, theory of educational research and thesis writing, cooperation between school and family, education of learning difficulty student and their converting strategies.At last, in order to meet the requirements of the the backbone class teachers in primary school, the training organizers should keep to the following principles: comprehensiveness and pertinence should be unified in making the target of the training curriculums, both personalization and theoretical guidance should be contained in designing training course content, and flexibility and variety are two indispensable parts in implementing training curriculum.
