Building a learning society is one of the strategic objectives of social development in China, the premise of building a learning society is to make people know how to learn. The theme of China’s education development strategy is to improve students’ learning ability, practical ability and innovation ability. Reading is one of important ways as people learn the knowledge and develope capacities, and is indispensable in human social life. Mathematics is a scientific tool and language to learn the knowledge of other disciplines. The acquisition of mathematical knowledge, is the same as that can not be separated from reading. With the advance of the new curriculum reform, mathematics reading has gradually become a hot topic for academic discussion.In this paper, by the study of mathematics reading theoretically, against the status quo of the current high school students, making educational experiments to clarify the understanding and the actual situation of secondary school students in mathematics reading, explore methods and strategies of the mathematics reading to improve students’ access to the ability of knowledge and lifelong learning skills. This article specifically include four parts, each part is as followsPart I:Introduction. Described the background and significance of this thesis as well as the current home and abroad for the Mathematics Reading Research.Part Ⅱ:Survey of contemporary high school students mathematics reading. Through investigation, the efficiency of students learning mathematics is low, not placed enough emphasis on mathematics reading, lack deep understanding of mathematical reading. In addition, the lack of mathematical reading material is also an important factor to affect the students in mathematics reading.Part III:the understanding of the mathematics reading. This section include the definition of mathematics reading, the particularity of mathematics reading, the educational value of mathematics reading, and the relationship of mathematics reading and creative culture, so as to discuss the important of mathematics reading.Part Ⅳ:guiding students in mathematics reading experiments. In this study, including the two parts of guiding students to textbook reading and mathematics extra-curricular information read and achieved good results.
