The problem of left behind children is a practical social problem, and it will exist for quite a long period in the future. Left behind children can not live with their parents, or rather, with either of their parents. As we know, left behind children are in the period when they are being educated, but some physical and psychological problems have arisen with them as a result of being far away from their parents. Children are not only the future of our country but also the dominator of their family in the future. The question of how to make left behind children grow up healthily needs concerns and efforts of our country, our government, schools, society and their families. After doing some questionnaires, visiting many families, referring to lots of materials and making some surveys, the author found some problems in left behind children in Liuyang:psychological problems, bad behaviors, morality flaw, school-weary psychology and survival problems. As a matter of fact, the reasons why all these problems arise are as follows:first, their parents are far away from them, which results in the lack of their parents’ care and love. Second, schools did not give enough concern about the left behind children and the management in schools is not concentrated on the left behind children. In addition, our society did not do much instructive propaganda, and the government did not perform the macro-control well. In fact, left behind children also have some advantages of growing up, which deserve our attention, for example, they have better independent survival ability and independent study ability, relate to their parents better and have a close relationship with their adopters. Therefore, it is necessary that families, schools, society and the government should combine to show love and care to left behind children. Families should improve the method of teaching their children and develop a harmonious family atmosphere; schools should do more home-visits, keep archives of left behind children, set up psychological counseling station and offer accommodation to left behind children; propaganda should be strengthened under the leadership of village committees and still some mutual aid teams in life or production can be set up; the government should play a part in organizing activities, thinking up some policies and offering as much help as possible.
