With the advent of the information age and the progressive development of informatization of the education, people in our China pay more and more attention to the information technology education. The Ministry of Education promulgated the Curriculum standards (test) for IT of ordinary high school (called IT New Standard for short) to guide the development of IT basic education in our Country. Under the guidance of IT New Standard, the trend of diversification of IT teaching materials in high school is growing significantly. Among a large number of IT materials, there are five kinds of teaching materials which have passed the preliminary examination by the Examination Committee in2004and were first tested in the test are successfully. These five IT teaching materials were published by the Education-Science Press, Zhejiang Education Press, Guangdong Education Press, Shanghai Science-Technology Press and China Cartographic Press. High school IT courses mainly includes two modules:one is compulsory module and the other is an elective module. The compulsory modules is the "Basic Information Technology", the contents of this module is not only connecting with the content of the compulsory education but also is the basis of the content of the high school IT courses. What’s more, it is the premise and foundation of the elective modules. Based on the importance of the compulsory modules and the limited time and energy, the author only selected five high school materials of Basic Information Technology for the study in this these.By using the action research methods, the author has a comparative study on the selected five sets of IT teaching materials on the basis of the careful study of IT New Standard and under the guidance of theory related teaching materials. And the comparison is made from the two aspects of static analysis and dynamic analysis. Due to limited research time and effort, the author studies on the contents including "Teaching materials","Teaching choreography","Column Sets","Textbook use and effects " and other aspects of the research. Through comparative analysis, the author found the materials characteristics, inadequacies and the scope of the five sets of IT materials, which can provide some reference for the constant improvement of the IT teaching materials. What’s more, it also provides some reference materials for front-line IT teachers in the selection and use of teaching materials. By studying in this paper, the author found that the characteristics of five new teaching materials compared with the textbook before is mainly reflected as followings: First, the core teaching objectives of the five sets of new textbooks are to "fully develop and enhance students’ information literacy "; Second, the five new teaching materials emphasis on students’ ability of innovation and enhancing the ability to maneuver; third, the teaching content of the five sets of new text books focus on relating to students’ daily life. The arrangement and the order of teaching materials is made according to cognitive development level of students; finally, there are supporting CD-ROMs both in students’textbooks and the teachers’book, which can enrich students’learning resources and teaching resources.There are some aspects which should be improved in the five sets of new curriculum materials:the convergence of the teaching content is inappropriate, especially the inappropriate convergence of content of IT teaching materials between the high school and the junior high school with existence of repeated content and the phenomenon of out of sync; selection of teaching materials resources and case design are out of date, which lags behind the current development of the IT level; the difficulty of teaching materials varies with the phenomenon of too difficult or too easy in content;Five sets of teaching materials is suitable for different levels of school:Zhejiang Education materials is suitable for the schools which have the advanced level of education and with higher levels of information technology; Education and Science teaching materials is suitable for a wide range of schools. Guangdong Education teaching materials is suitable for use in most provinces and schools; Shanghai Science and Technology version of materials is suitable for schools whose education levels and information level is low. And in these schools, teachers’professional skills are not high and students’ overall level of IT should be improved; map of China Edition teaching materials is suitable for the focus school with the high level education.
