Junior High School Language Teaching Material Operation System Research

Chinese textbooks, used in the language teaching class, play a very important role in the language teaching due to the function as not only the carrier of the language course goals and course content, but also the virtue of language teaching and learning. School textbooks are basically made up of four parts in reasonable organization, namely sample systems, knowledge systems, exercise systems and guidance System, while the exercise system is the expression of main ideas of editors by carrying the teaching content for every class and emphasizing the important and difficult knowledge and guiding the direction for teachers through questions after class. The exercise system is useful to help teachers to detect the effect of teaching and adjust the goals, and to help student to consolidate the basic knowledge, self-test learning outcomes, read just the learning targets, and reflect on the learning process, thereby enhance the language learning ability.There are four chapters in this thesis to discuss the exercise system in junior high school language teaching textbooks, PEP New Curriculum as an example. The characteristic and drawbacks of language teaching materials in China were analyzed based on of the question content and the question form in order to improve class teaching and learning. In this thesis, the language curriculum standard was chosed as the reference to check whether current Chinese language teaching textbooks meet it or not on one hand. On another hand, English textbooks in USA served as an example to help editors to design more reasonable and useful question systems. Finally, suggestions were made for edition of language teaching textbooks and hoped to be valuable advice.
