Serious game is a one form of E-learning training,which enables learners toacquire information, to train skills and to develop attitude in the course of game. Itprovides professional training and simulation in an interesting and entertaining manner.Traditional E-learning mainly imparts cognitive knowledge, while serious games arescenario simulation and repeated trial and error, so the latter may provide opportunities topractice skills. In foreign countries, serious game has been widely used in many fields,such as military training, medicine and education. At present in China the application andresearch of serious game is still in the initial stage, mainly concentrated in school teaching,and rarely found in corporate training. Starting from the real demands of China’s corporatetraining, this paper is intended to explore the applicability of serious game in China’senterprise training.Drawing on literature at home and abroad, the paper first defines the concept ofserious game, and compares it with other related concepts like education games,game-based learning, edutainment, light game and the light version. The paper alsoidentifies the deficiency of traditional E-learning training and illustrates the four majoradvantages of serious game. In Chapter3, based on theoretical studies of motivation theory,experiential learning theory, self-efficacy theory and flow theory and case analysis, theauthor puts forward the instructional design process of serious game with a view toproviding guidance for specific serious game instructional design.The author participates in the design and development of a sales serious game duringher internship with a training company. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the authordesigns and develops a sale serious game in accordance with the process mentioned. Andthis serious game is used to improve sales capacity and confidence of new sales staff. Inthe last section, this paper summarizes the experience of serious game instructionaldesigning and provides implications for future serious game design.
